This project was the first Shared Space Concept that we had the pleasure of being involved in. Shared spaces create more pedestrian space, outdoor dining space and reduce traffic flow. The project delivered a vibrant destination for local businesses and retailers.

The objective for this project was to transform the Auckland CBD to a level of environmental quality befitting a world class city. Queen St was the first major Auckland streetscape project we supplied and flowed into High St and Lorne St and eventually the catalyst of the CBD Shared Spaces.

The new basalt Plaza forms the “front door” to New Zealand’s largest shopping center and its vibrant Grove Dining District. The palette of natural stone, planting and furniture is distinctively Auckland recalling the diverse Pacific culture and texture of the city.
Natural volcanic basalt was used to create a truly civic waterfront promenade. Connecting the restaurants of North Wharf to Jellicoe St which is totally constructed of small stone cobbles creating a rumbled texture whilst maintaining a sophisticated simplicity. This award winning Lineal Park provides an enhancement to the existing National War Memorial. The length and simplicity of the parks terraces and boulevards offer a memorable experience for pedestrians and drivers.
This iconic Auckland landmark was enhanced with a stunning granite memorial water feature and custom designed stone seating.
A combination of textured red granite paving was specified for this stunning project. It was designed so the material would seamlessly flow from the exterior to the interior drawing you into the glass structure. During the 2011 earthquakes not one paver was damaged accentuating the strength and longevity of granite.
