The Avon River precinct covers 2.7 kilometres of wide mixed granite paving shouldering the Avon River creating a stunning promenade to give the CBD a feeling of quality and longevity and has been a catalyst for drawing businesses to return to the City again.  It includes massive stone terraces that connect the walkway with the river and accentuate the Bridge of Remembrance and the Earthquake Memorial wall which bare so much importance to the people and visitors of Christchurch.
