Stone Used
Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre
Woods Bagot & Warren and Mahoney
Overview
From above, you start to grasp the sheer quantity of elements that had to fall into place. Soft curves juxtaposed by the structured forms of stone. A tessellation of Type B basalt, incorporating nearly every finish imaginable. Te Pae marked an unusual opportunity to work at such a scale, in the heart of a city rebuilding itself. "You don't see too many convention centres, at least modern-day ones, of this quality. The word 'boutique' was written into our brief — and we tried our very best to ensure that feeling was reflected in the materials and the experience." — Bruno Mendes, Woods Bagot. Completed 2022 | 17,000 sqm
