Ember House

Monk Mackenzie

Set amongst the dunes and pine forests of Te Arai, Ember is a monolithic form inspired by driftwood washed ashore - robust, restrained, and deeply connected to its landscape.

Overview

The bathrooms echo the home's materiality, with natural stone shaping the character of each space. Delicate mosaics are paired with large-format stone slabs to create richly textured, immersive spaces. Guilan Limestone envelops one bathroom, while Titanium Travertine defines another, each material contributing warmth, depth, and a timeless connection to place.
