Stone Used
Te Komititanga Square, Lower Queen St
Jasmax
Overview
Alongside Jasmax and John Fillmore Contracting, we helped bring to life the magnificent stone Whāriki welcome mat — a cultural centrepiece co-designed by Tessa Harrison and her weaving team, representing Mana Whenua. Positioned between the historic Central Post Office and Commercial Bay, the Whāriki is flanked by stonework depicting the waters of the Waitematā meeting the Wai Horotiu stream from the south — a meaningful narrative woven into the city’s fabric underfoot. This project connects key urban spaces including the CRL, Britomart, Quay Street, and the waterfront, creating a vibrant civic heart for Tāmaki Makaurau. We’re honoured to have played a part in this transformation.
