Alongside Jasmax and John Fillmore Contracting, Designsource helped bring to life the magnificent stone Whāriki welcome mat - a cultural centrepiece co-designed by Tessa Harrison and her weaving team representing Mana Whenua.

Positioned between Auckland’s historic Central Post Office and Commercial Bay, the Whāriki incorporates granite, basalt and Golden Sands stone supplied by Designsource, with the natural variation and texture of each material adding depth and permanence to the surrounding streetscape.

The Whāriki is flanked by stonework depicting the waters of the Waitematā meeting the Wai Horotiu stream from the south - a meaningful narrative woven into the city’s fabric underfoot.
Connecting key urban spaces including the City Rail Link (CRL), Britomart, Quay Street and the Auckland waterfront, the project creates a vibrant civic heart for Tāmaki Makaurau, where cultural meaning, natural stone and the movement of the city come together.
