Te Rimutahi is a streetscape project in the heart of Ponsonby, Auckland, completed for Auckland Council in 2025.

Meaning “the lone Rimu tree,” Te Rimutahi takes its name from a sacred rimu that once stood near the intersection of Ponsonby Road and Karangahape Road.

Red porphyry cobbles define the space, paired with timber, integrated seating and greenery to create a warm and welcoming setting within the city. The materials work together to create a simple, balanced streetscape - giving people a place to pause, meet and gather, while bringing texture and character to one of Ponsonby’s most recognisable intersections.
